Parippu Muringakka Curry/ Dal Drumstick Curry/ Sahjan Dal Curry


Ingredients

1. Toor Dal - 1/2 cup
2. Drumstick - 3 nos
3. Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
4. Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
5. Tomato - 1
6. Onion - 1
7. Green Chilli - 1
8. Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
9. Dry Red Chilli - 2 nos
10. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
11. Red Chilli powder -1 tbsp
12. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
13. Oil - 1 tbsp
14. Salt to taste


Steps to follow :

1. Pressure cook washed Toor Dal and 2 cup of water for 3 whistles in a pressure cooker.
2. In a pan add Drumstick, Onion, Tomato, Green Chilli, Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder, Salt and a cup of water then mix well and cover it with a lid. 
3. Cook in medium flame for 10 minutes and stir occasionally.
4. In a Mixer, add Grated coconut and Cumin seeds and grind till it becomes smooth paste.
5. Once the Drumstick is just more than half cooked add cooked Dal and allow it to boil. Then add Coconut-cumin paste and mix well. Add enough water and cover the lid and keep in medium flame until  Drumstick is completely cooked.
6. Once the Drumstick is completely cooked, check the consistency(if curry is too thick, adjust the consistency by adding water and allow it to boil) and switch off the flame.
7. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a kadai, add mustard seed, and wait until mustard pops then add Curry Leaves, Dry Red Chilli. Pour the tadka over curry and mix.

Parippu muringakka curry is ready to serve with Rice...!!
